3 different ways to exfoliate your skin

We all know that exfoliating our skin (both faces and bodies) is a crucial part of a good skin care routine. To exfoliate is to gently slough off dead and flaky skin cells to reveal a brighter, smoother and more evenly toned complexion. Not only does exfoliation pave the way for fresh, radiant skin to come to the surface, it is hugely important in reducing acne and breakouts.

While the thought of exfoliation may seem a little harsh, especially for those with sensitive skin, there is a product that suits every skin type and every kind of skin care routine.
Mitten
Rooted in ancient Turkish tradition, this range of exfoliation gloves are perfect for both face and body. With a collection catering from sensitive, all the way to oily skin, determined by the thickness of the glove. Each product is made from a high quality, soft yarn and is intended to provide a deep exfoliation while still gliding across skin, without causing irritation. No other product necessary!
Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant
A powdered formula that activates upon contact with water, the Daily Microfoliant utilises salicylic acid and rice enzymes to both chemically dissolve and physically remove dead skin cells. Combined with the soothing qualities of green tea and oatmeal, this formula is gentle enough for daily use while still being effective in revealing brighter skin.
Sand & Sky Flash Perfection Exfoliating Treatment
Doubling as a mattifying mask and exfoliating treatment, this product works to refine pores and mattify skin. For sensitive skin; natural fruit acids, such as can be found in the desert and finger lime work to dissolve dead skin cells as a mask before being rinsed off. For those with oily to acne prone skin, the mask can be worked into the skin as a scrub, utilising finely ground bamboo and macadamia to physically reveal a fresher complexion. Use 1-3 times a week.

For skin prone to hyper pigmentation, you should be very careful when exfoliating

Would not mind trying the exfoliating body mitt to see how it goes. I like to exfoliate my face at least once a week.

I can probably count on my fingers how often I exfoliate my body, it's terrible. Time to hit up eBay and find a nice mitt I think. Though, the mitt shown here looks marvellous.
As for my face, I aim to use a facial scrub twice a week.

The daily microfoliant is the best and sand&sky is great as a weekly/fortnightly treatment! Reminds me I have to get back to using that.

I love exfoliating scrubs for face & body, but I've got very tough skin due to thyroid disease.

Exfoliating by way of using a low concentration AHA/BHA facial wash is the way to go or a fine sugar and olive oil scrub for a non acidic alternative. Anything with ground nut shell or kernels can leave you with broken capillaries due how rough they are. Vigorous scrubbing with exfoliating gloves can also cause damage so gentle does it. The Dermalogica exfoliant looks amazing. The beta glucans in the rice can reduce redness and are fabulous for sensitive skin types. The salicylic acid is a boon for acne sufferers but best avoided if you have sunburn or ultra sensitive skin. At the end of the day, the best form of skincare is a high SPF, broad spectrum, physical sunscreen worn every day of the year!

I'd love to try out the Mitten, it sounds amazing! I like how they've got one for each skin type as well. I currently use an exfoliating glove from Eco Tan for my body, but my latest one obtained a hole in it not too long after purchasing, so I'd like something else.
I've only used the Sand & Sky Exfoliator that I got from the recent BH event once, but I won't pass further comment on it until I've (a) used it again & (b) done my review. My lips are sealed. ;o)

I've used the Sand & Sky Flash Exfoliating Treatment a few times but I probably need to use it more often.

Just checked out the Mitten on BH - noticed there's only 3 reviews despite it being a product in the May Discovery Bag. Are people not submitting reviews for their Discovery Bag products? Usually a minimum 10 participants I thought...(sorry off topic)
I received the Sand & Sky exfoliating treatment at the Natural Beauty event at BH. It's a great physical and chemical exfoliant but I didn't notice amazing results but it could be because I regularly use an acid toner anyway.

I used to prefer physical exfoliants but at the moment really liking chemical exfoliants, they aren't as abrasive on the skin. Love the Dermalogica daily microfoliant, would love to try the sand and sky exfoliating treatment I have heard great things about it =)

With a sensitive face I do get concerned about exfoliating.

I have sensitive skin on my face & I know using a physical exfoliant isn't great, but IME I've found chemical/fruit acid-based exfoliants to be really....meh. I use Andalou Naturals' 1000 Rose Facial Exfoliator, which is designed for sensitive skin. It is a physical exfoliant, but it's gentler than most & doesn't feel scratchy. Maybe you could give that a go.

I use an acid toner most days and a clarifying/exfoliating mask twice a week. I find physical scrubs too abrasive but the Dermalogica one is very nice and gentle
