Perfumes of boyfriends past

Ah, young love. Sure is grand, isn’t it?
From your very first serious relationship, to the bad boy boyfriend from your rebellious years, there are loves that you look back on with fond memories and others… not so much.
But while their personalities may be world’s apart, the one thing that they do have in common is sporting a signature scent. Now, every time you come across that particular fragrance, you can’t help but think of them.
Here, beautyheaven takes a look at the scents associated to the different boys dotted across your love life…
Your high school boyfriend
The first one to make your stomach do loop-de-loops as he bought you red frogs from the tuckshop. You were both so young and innocent, and you were excellent at pretending to be interested in his skateboard/band/baseball card collection. Joop! Jump EDT ($29.99, 100mL, Chemist Warehouse) was his fragrance. Launched in 2005, it was popular amongst young men with its punchy citrus notes and a draw for the ladies thanks to its floral undertones. The bright blue bottle was always eye-catching next to his dresser topped with dirty socks and chips.
Your bad boy boyfriend
He drew you in with his smirk and ‘I don’t care’ attitude, but you stayed for the fact that your dad couldn’t stand him and he could drive. Every moment with him was an adrenalin rush and he liked to live life on the edge. His scent was Black XS EDT by Paco Rabanne ($59, 100mL, Myer). Also launched in 2005, this edgy fragrance was constantly associated with rock music and sticking it to the man – no better draw for a bad boy. The black bottle worked well in his all-black bedroom constantly drenched in darkness.
Your University boyfriend
You were going to get married, both be really successful in your careers and live in a mansion with two dogs. But first you had to pass the semester and learn how to study with a hangover. He was the first boyfriend to show any signs of maturity and actually take you on a proper date and pay for it. His fragrance was ck one EDT by Calvin Klein ($69, 100mL, Myer). This unisex scent is light, intimate and was irresistible to you both, leading you to steal a spritz after every sleepover.
Your British boyfriend
Oh the accent and the charm. He was the Mr Darcy to your Bridget Jones. Wise, well-travelled, and the fact that his family lived on the other side of the world was an added bonus. Tommy by Tommy Hilfiger was his scent of choice. Classic, like the English language, and full of energetic notes like grapefruit, yellow rose and pineapple to match his enthusiasm for travel.
Your handbag boyfriend
Couldn’t recite the alphabet backwards even if you gave him a day to practice, but gee he was pretty to look at. And boy did he now how to dress and smell. His good looks were complemented with a good-looking fragrance: Giorgio Armani Aqua di Gio EDP ($95, 40mL, Myer). This iconic fragrance is masculine, fresh and still one of the most popular to be purchased. The bittersweet scent (and perhaps relationship for some) begins with fresh bergamot, neroli and tangerine and combines with a sensual mix of jasmine, rosemary and persimmon. Light, fresh and a little bit fancy.

My husband changed dramatically towards me, doesn’t communicate anymore. He disrespects me and accuses me falsely of infidelity because of wicked gossip …but I’m simply AMAZED at the results of Dr. Ogudugu who did reunion love spell for me. Everything is going so well and EXACTLY how he said it would be. Even though it took 3 days to fully progress, it was so worth it because things are just about at perfection! How he took my situation and completely turned it around to give me exactly what I wanted is beyond me, but something I will never question and just be completely grateful, God Bless Dr.Ogudugu for turning sorrow into happiness. I really love Jean Paul Gaultier, but unfortunately it reminds me of a really bad ex and experience. I can't stand Joop (most of the original Joops) and anyone I sniff wearing the red Joop I just can't go near - it's far too overpowering. I like the original Fahrenheit - on the right person it's spicy and masculine and just really sexy.

The ex boyfriend never wore any of these, but when I was with him I used to wear Mariah Carey M. I can no longer wear that fragrance, too many bad memories :(

None of my old flames wore these, but I had one that wore Ralph Lauren Polo. I still love that fragrance. I, on the other hand, still wear CK One myself and always have a bottle in my collection.

Never had any of these boyfriends, can't recall what any previous fellows smelled like. Current hubby doesn't use a scent, except that shampoo that makes him smell like candy.
