Could you handle using only men’s beauty products for a week?

My boyfriend doesn’t use soap in the shower.
He thinks it makes his skin dry and that his shampoo does a sufficient job of cleaning his whole body. Gross, I know.
So you can imagine my horror when I came across a marieclaire.com article chronicling the experience of writer Claire Fontanetta using only her bf’s products (or lack thereof) for a week.

Here’s a summary of what went down:
Day 1:
Claire realises she usually uses 26 beauty products daily. She is confronted in the shower by just one Kiehl's cleansing product, which she has to use as a shampoo, conditioner, body wash and shaving “cream”. She is pleased by the absence of bathroom beauty clutter.
Day 2:
The writer has a work event in the morning, so she invests in some Dove Men+Care face lotion and men’s concealer (yes, there’s such a thing!). She is pleasantly surprised and impressed by the concealer. To combat the growing frizz, she puts some beard oil on her strands. #genius.
Day 3:
Claire is starting to miss her staple bright orange/red lipstick (*sad face*). She stays strong, though, and continues to rock a bare lip like it’s no big deal.
Day 4:
Unsurprisingly, the writer is enjoying some extra sleep in the morning, and she’s therefore feeling more energetic. Her skin’s also visibly clearer. Not a bad result!
Day 5:
By now, Claire’s gotten so used to wearing cologne that she doesn’t even notice it. But her friends do, with one telling her she smells “like her ex”. Awkward. The barefaced writer feels a bit out of place at after-work drinks, even though everyone says she still looks gorgeous.
Day 6:
She caves and hides behind some big sunglasses. Understandable.
Day 7:
It’s Sunday, which is a low-maintenance day for Claire, anyway. She realises she’s quite keen on her L'Occitane Cade Shower Gel for Body & Hair: “It's manly, but in a chic musky firewood kind of way.” Hilarious.
Here’s what we can take away from Claire’s experience:
- Streamlining your morning beauty routine allows you to sleep longer.
- Not wearing make-up for a few days can be very good for your skin.
- Conditioner is essential for frizzy-haired gals (I suspect beard oil can only take you so far).
- Bright lippie is still every girl’s best friend.

I like this idea, however i dont think i could do it all the time. I think perhaps if i was camping out or something like that. Where often grabbing a cold shower; with this product you could be all done quickly.

I could do this if I needed to. But I wouldn't like it and I think my sky and hair would show the signs.

I wouldn't mind, but my husband doesn't do anything anyway, and whenever I suggest a product, he nods his head, but that's it, nothing more.

She said in the article: "Every day without makeup is another day I can sleep in an extra hour". An extra hour! She really must have a long routine!
The article didn't mention if she had to forgo the extravagance of toilet paper for every function. Surely she didn't just shake?

I don''t think it's a bad thing to go for a simpler routine sometimes, but I wouldn't pare down that much!

No boyfriend so I'd be in trouble! I don't always follow my skincare regime. I always notice the difference in my skin. I really should go finish my evening routine instead of being on here!

I guess my skin would clear if I did not wear makeup. I just love makeup so much.

I don't have a boyfriend but I could possibly use my brothers routine. I got him on to using a cleanser or an exfoliator coz he was getting breakouts. Plus he uses the right type of shampoo and conditioner for his hair! But I sure as hell couldn't give up my lipbalm. I can't live without it! Plus I hate going out of the house without makeup. I feel naked and insecure.

I don't think I'd mind, I often use my boyfriend's fragrance and skincare and he uses my facial masks :D

I could never do this. My partner is a soap man whereas I am all about the shower gel.

Hahaha! That is interesting! However considering the fact that my husband gets me to buy different fragranced soaps for him (in his 'manly' scents, of course), and he loves it when I find him random soaps on a rope, I don't know. And I have a men's fragrance that I substitute for a perfume. So...
But I'll be damned if I give up my lip balm.

If I was to do that, my routine would be extremely streamlined, hubby does nothing for his skin

Hmmm my boyfriend uses the most basic stuff, shampoo, body wash, and shaving cream. I doubt I can survive for a week. At least I need my moisturiser and lip balm.
