The most popular gender reveal ideas

Gender reveals are a relatively new and fun trend that has seen a huge rise in popularity over the last few years. Our Instagram feeds and YouTube channels have become a viewing platform for us to witness some amazing gender reveals around the world from the over the top, elaborate and big reveals to the more simple and intimate. We dare you not to get emotional watching these!
Of course, there are those couples who opt for anonymity or wish to keep the biological sex of their baby unknown until the birth. There are also those who don’t necessarily want to reveal the gender with specific colours or prefer gender-neutral colours. Whatever works best for you!
But for those of you who do want to find out or are thinking about planning a gender reveal party, it’s an exciting way to gather all your loved ones in one room to find out the biological sex of your baby and celebrate all together!
Whichever way you choose to celebrate or tell your loved ones, will be a special moment.

Firstly, how does it work?
Your first step is booking an ultrasound around your 20 week mark. If you’re someone who doesn’t want to know, then have your sonographer write down the sex and seal it an envelope. You can then choose a close friend or family member, give them the envelope so they can get started on the planning of your gender reveal party. Alternatively, if the parents would like to know, then you can go ahead and plan the party yourselves!
We have listed seven of the most popular gender reveal party ideas below.
Gender Reveal Cake
Who doesn’t love cake? A treat that can be enjoyed by everyone, having a cake with either pink or blue filling (can be normal sugar filling, or filled with coloured m&ms or candy of your choice) and cutting in the middle to reveal the colour is a delicious way to surprise your guests.
Popping balloons
One that often comes with an apprehensive face (so be aware for photos before sticking in the pin). Popping balloons with pink or blue confetti inside is a cute and simple idea. There are so many beautiful gender-neutral balloons to choose from like gold, silver, white or yellow.
Gender reveal box
Fill a huge decorated box with pink or blue helium balloons. Once you’re ready for the reveal, take off the lid and watch your beautiful balloons release. This one is great for making the moment last a little longer as you watch them float into the sky!
Have fun with paint
This one is for those who dare to get a little messy. Whether you splash it out of a can, squirt the paint out of a water gun or drop them in water balloons, this is a fun and colourful way to splash the news!
Smoke guns or coloured powder
This one is to appease the sports enthusiasts out there (mostly the dads). Fill your chosen ball (usually a football or rugby ball) with either blue or pink powder inside, give the ball a good hard kick to release the gender’s coloured powder. Smoke guns are also great for an outfoor gender reveal, especially those with big yards!
Fortune cookies
Another great food option, fortune cookies is a really inventive way to do a reveal. People love novelty items especially at parties and it’s a great way to have your guests be involved in the moment of the reveal rather than just watching you. Make sure you have a designated cameraman though who unfortunately won’t be able to participate as they need to snap this fun group moment!
Sparklers
For those who want to plan a night time gender reveal soiree, then lighting sparklers is a great way to go. For the couples who know the gender, light your sparkler, and spell out “boy” or “girl” for everyone to see! A gorgeous night time shot for your photo album and social media!

You can get your ex back and cure your infertility problems with Dr. Odunga. When I met Dr.Odunga, my husband had divorced me because I was a barren woman of 41 and I have been married for 21 years. I was devastated and confused as a woman of my age until when I went online to look for help on how to get my marriage back then I met Dr. Odunga. Within 48 hours of contacting him, my ex husband came back home and pleaded for me to forgive him and take him back after 5 months of divorce. I accepted him back and then I told Dr. Odunga of my bareness for him to help me with child. He did the spell and sent me the natural herbs for fertility that I will use and immediately I used this medicine, I conceived. My husband got me pregnant and I gave birth to a baby girl. Presently, I am a mother of a beautiful girl and I am happy in my marriage. This is all thanks to Dr. Odunga and his wonderful work. Contact Dr. Odunga Via Whats App number +2348167159012. There was no such thing as gender reveal parties or even baby showers when I was pregnant. My son and daughter in law recently had their baby shower and holy moly is was a big event. There were about 40 people there, and sooooo much food. I was actually freaking out about it to be totally honest, but it ended up being a good day.

Just do not release balloons or do anything that leaves rubbish in our ecosystem

All of these are great EXCEPT for the balloon release. I really dont know why people are still insisting on balloon releases for things like this or the loss of a loved one, etc. This is a horrible thing to do. The balloons float off and of course we know they dont go to heaven. They float along and finally burst which then leaves them scattered all over the ground or in waterways. Here where I live balloon releases are banned by law and I believe they are also banned in NSW but not totally...they allow small releases of under 20 I believe, Sea turtles see these things floating on the water and think they are jelly fish so much like plastic bags the sea turtles ingest the balloons and are then doomed to die.
Ok...thats enough of my rant.

Baby reveal wasn't around when I had my kids. It was a lovely surprise to just hear when they were born what sex they were. Although people told me that the way I was carrying my first it was a boy and it turned out to be a girl.
So many people do these baby reveals in unusual ways but I still prefer to not know. I can understand if it is your 3rd baby but I think it's just lovely to have the surprise of not knowing.
I guess it's just changing of how things are done now and each to their own.

I haven't been to a baby reveal but I've seen a few on social media. Most are releasing or popping balloons or cutting a cake. I like the cup cake idea.

A Gender Reveal Party! Any excuse for a party now I guess. In my day it was a baby shower, after the baby was born. It might be good to know if it is a boy or a girl so you can start planning with purchases needed but these days it isn't pink or blue so much any more. All colours are making a child's room special. Did like the pink and blue cake idea though with the surprise colour inside.

To be honest, I think the only people who really care about the gender of the baby are the parents.

I found out what I was having but didn’t do a ‘reveal’, if people asked I’d tell them. Luckily we both wanted to know unlike some couples I know.

I've never attended one of these parties for gender reveal. Not a fan but if I were I think the sparklers are nice.

there was no such things as gender reveal when I was pregnant with my kids. My first born was a surprise and for my second one was told at the ultrasound but I only told my husband and the rest of the family and friends knew when my baby was born.

Far more exciting revealing the gender when it’s born - no one really cares how much it weighted or how long it was but was it a BOY or GIRL is precious!
Keep them in suspenders as misfortune8 would say!

I hate this trend and blame social media for the popularity of this phenomenon. But we all experience pregnancy differently. If sharing in this way brings an expectant mother joy, go for it! Goodness knows there's a lot going on during this time that's not so joyful.

Cute list - love the fortune cookie idea and would be specially fun if it's a total surprise with some same level understanding and agreement in advance of course.
