Gift ideas for new Mums

As one of the most exciting times in their life, a new mum is often showered in gifts for her new baby, but before you go buying another 0000 singlet or a jumpsuit, take a minute to think about ways you can really spoil the new mum… after all she has spent the last 9 months as a walking, talking incubator.
Here are a couple of out-of-the-box ideas that may bring a smile to a new mum’s tired looking face:
Voucher for a cleaner, ironing or cleaning service
Give mum a voucher for a useful service that will help her cope with the first few weeks of getting into a routine.
Food, or dinner related gifts – frozen meals or vouchers for home delivery at local restaurants
Chances are cooking won’t be a priority in the first few weeks at home. So give the gift of cooking, with some home made frozen meals to stock the freezer or some vouchers for local home delivery.
Clothing gift voucher
After 9 months of maternity clothes, help the new mum spoil herself with an outfit that doesn’t have an elastic waistband or look like a large tent.
Pampering voucher for a massage, facial, pedicure or manicure.
The aches and pains that accompany pregnancy mean mum could be in dire need of a pamper session. Just make sure this gift is given with the promise of baby-sitting, to free mum up as she indulges in her treatment.
Tasty missed treats
In today’s minefield of pregnancy information there’s a long list of what mum can and can’t consume during her pregnancy. So why not spoil mum with a hamper of once forbidden foods like wine, sushi, soft cheese or chocolates. Just make sure if she’s breastfeeding that these foods are no longer forbidden.
Photography session or photo-related gifts
Baby photos will be treasured for years, so why not help kick off the collection with photo-related pressies like a voucher for a portrait session for a family photo, a voucher to put towards the purchase of a new digital or video camera, or beautiful frames to house all her new family photos.
Entertainment – DVD delivery service or magazine subscription
The new mum will be spending a lot of time at home getting into a routine, so help keep her entertained. Sign her up for a 3 month DVD service, but make it as simple and as easy as possible, as the last thing mum will want to be doing is picking up and dropping off DVDs! Alternatively, pick up a 12-month subscription for her favourite magazine; this might be a saviour during some of the night feeds or as a way for her to unwind when she gets a minute to herself.

The absolute best gift you can give a new momma is your time! Spend time with her and remember to ask about how she is doing, not just about the baby. I also agree that a small gift for the mum is often forgotten, so if you can, try and get her a little something. Even a piece of cake/cupcake would definitely be welcomed!

I love the dinner or food gift idea ... I'm personally not a fan of frozen foods from the supermarket ... BUT ... I've just found 'THE YUMMIEST' wonton noodles soup that is frozen, you just add water microwave for 4mins ... SERIOUSLY ... it's better than ANY restaurant wonton soup I've EVER had ... which is saying alot, as I LOVE my asian cuisine! There's also a huge range of asian dumplings, pork buns and yum cha choices to choose from, ALL authentic! YUMMY!
