Renee Bargh: what’s in my makeup bag

With a string of Aussies killing it overseas, it’s no surprise that Byron Bay turned Los Angeles local, Renee Bargh is making waves in the US. As the host of Extra TV and with an Emmy Award under her belt, we’d say she knows a thing or two about nailing a beauty look, on and off camera. We caught up with Renee to chat all things hair, makeup and skin, as well as the products she never leaves home without (which of course includes a few Aussie favourites).

What are 5 beauty products that you can’t live without?
-
Lucas Papaw ointment for my lips (every Aussie knows what’s up!)
-
True Botanicals Face Oil
-
The Base by Lara Bingle Tinted Moisturiser with SPF
-
Hourglass Highlighting Bronzer
-
RMS beauty Magic Luminizer
Which beauty products do you always carry with you in your handbag?
All of the above. “Plus Luma Lip and Cheek Tint and Tatcha Luminous Face Mist”
Describe your everyday makeup routine?
“After applying True Botanicals Face Oil I use The Base by Lara Bingle Tinted Moisturiser. I use RMS beauty Concealer under the eyes and on any blemishes and then I apply Luma Lip and Cheek Tint and RMS beauty Magic Luminizer on my cheek bones. I use Hourglass Luminous Bronzer and a little bronze/reddish brown eyeshadow from Charlotte Tilbury. I finish it off with a spray of Tatcha Luminous Face Mist for a dewy look. I [also] get eyelash extensions from Beverly Hills Lashes so I don't need to wear mascara. “
How does your makeup routine change when you’re presenting on TV?
“Thankfully every day I have my incredible makeup artist Brandy - who gets me ready for Extra. She preps my skin with Elta MD Sunscreen (not available in Aus, bh recommends: La Roche-Posay XL Anthelios Ultra Light SPF50+) and Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentrate before applying foundation and concealer etc. I wear much more eye makeup and Individual lashes when I’m on tv and really more makeup in general. I prefer a very light/ natural look when I’m not on tv.”
Do you have any time-saving makeup hacks?
“A great face mist gives a quick glowy/ dewy look. A nice pink lipstick can be perfect to use as a cheek tint also. I like creams for cheeks as it looks more natural.”
How do you take care of your skin to keep it looking so flawless?
“I get regular facials and light peels and I’m especially fond of the Omnilux Red Light Facial- especially around award show season. I never go to bed in makeup and make sure to wash my skin really well every night. I also believe that what you eat and drink is the most important thing when it comes to skin care. I drink lots of water and aloe vera water and try to stay away from sugar and dairy.”
What are your favourite hair treatments?
“I have the best hairdressers in the business and they take such amazing care when coloring my hair. I go to Riawna and Tabitha at Nine Zero One Salon and try to use a treatment once a week. I use coconut oil in my hair as a treatment every once in a while and Unite 7 Seconds as a leave in treatment (not available in Australia, bh recommends: muk Haircare Deep muk Ultra Soft Leave-In Conditioner.)

Oh dear, I must be living under a rock, because I’ve never heard of her. I do love Hourglass products though.

Love this article. I haven't tried any of these products - yet! My makeup bag always has a couple of must haves: MAC studio fix, Clinique Long Last Glosswear, Kajal black eyeliner and Chanel blush stick.
I have 2 of everything so that one set are always in my make up bag, ready to move from bag to bag.

I love that this sounds like a bit of work ! It's refreshing to hear actually haha She is beautiful ! And her hair and make up look great! I love using a mist but I use it as my toner! So many brands I haven't tried. I wonder if that sunscreen will make it to our shelves!

The face mist is a good tip, I've been trying to remind myself to put one in my purse.

I remember Renee from Channel V when I was a teenager. She was great, always loved her confident and charismatic personality. So proud of her to make it in the US!

I have heard her accent on Extra, and wondered about where in Oz she was from. So good tip about pink lippy as a cream blush

These all sound like great products! I've tried Lucas Paw Paw ointment and not a fan unfortunately. I much prefer using Carmex products. Less thick and icky..

I love Carmex as well. Not many other products works as well as Carmex.

Don't know who she is.

It seems like she is known on small time American TV... so I presume that there would be very few of us who could identify her.

I don't know her either but I'm not good at knowing the famous.

I think that the TV is a 'local' American show from reading the intro of this article.

No idea who she is but must be nice having an MUA on call. Otherwise, sorry to say I find these sort of articles completely unrelatable.
