Tips to recreate Emma Watson's red carpet makeup
Want to know how to look vampish? You know, blood-red lips, smouldering eyes and perfect skin? Emma Watson has it down pat. I know this because she rocked this look at the recent premiere of her new flick, Noah.
We sought the help of Make-Up Artist Emma Gerrie to discover exactly how to get the look for yourself at home…
To achieve such effortlessly flawless skin, remember - less is more. Layering a brightening serum like Lancôme DreamTone underneath a sheer foundation will always make your skin look and feel fresh and luminous. Once the serum has settled into your skin, use a dome sponge to apply your foundation in circular motions around your face to keep your skin looking plump and dewy (and blended!). For extra radiance always add a little highlighter to the bridge of the nose, bow of the lip and top of the cheekbones.
I love a subtle, matte, earthy smoky eye teamed with a bold red lip. The bold lip still gets to be the focal point, but you don’t have to forget about the eyes. First apply a base colour such as MAC Wedge to your whole lid, then in the upper and lower outer corners of your eyes, use a soft fluffy brush to apply a red-based brown like MAC Swiss Chocolate to deepen the effect. Use a liquid liner to recreate Emma’s winged liner by drawing the flick up towards the end of your brow, before lining your lash line. Finish with a generous helping of lengthening mascara on your top and bottom lashes.
Start by combing your brows upwards and away from the grain. Apply a brow pencil in your hair colour underneath the brow to give it some structure, following with feathering strokes upwards to fill any gaps up to the arch. Always give the brows another brush once you are done to make sure you leave no harsh lines.
To achieve a perfect bold lip I have always believed that a liner is key. Dab a small amount of lip primer over the lips to create a smooth surface, your red lip pencil will glide straight over, make sure you colour in the entire lip, though! This is also the key to longevity! Lastly, apply a blue-based red lipstick like Max Factor Colour Elixir Lipstick in Ruby Tuesday all over your lips, blot with a tissue and then reapply for a perfect, long-lasting opaque lip.
