Study reveals what men really think of our makeup

There’s no doubt lots of us women love to wear heavier make-up, especially when we’re going for a special night out. But have you ever thought about why?
A study by researches at Bangor and Aberdeen Universities in the UK has shown it may be because many women mistakenly think men like it.
Female participants in the study were given “a range of best-selling foundations, lipsticks, mascaras and blushers,” and asked to apply the products as though they were getting ready for a night out.
When comparing photos of the women pre, mid-way through and post make-up application, students at Bangor University thought male observers would want the models to be wearing more make-up than female observers would.
They were wrong – the men and women preferred the same amount. And that amount was less than the models had actually applied.
At beautyheaven, we think natural-looking make-up is beautiful.
That being said, we’re all for applying make-up because it makes us feel good, not because of what men think - so won’t be giving up our special-occasion smoky eye any time soon!
How much make-up do you like to wear? Do you think about how men perceive your look?

I do not care at all what men want. I do what I want...and that is to be minimalist and not to wear makeup 99% of the time. 1% is when I go on some big event (like wedding....)

I prefer to keep everything simple, so the natural makeup look is the best.

I think it's all about how it makes you feel. I find I look better with less makeup.

I always have been a natural looking make up kind of girl, I like to glam my self up but i can't handle the heavy over the top make up its just to much. My boyfriend prefers me without make up but i wonder how many guys have picked up a girl without make up?? Even my little nephew asked me why am i putting that paint(foundation) on my face and made me laugh, and think why I really wear make up?? To accentuate my features .

I've never been confortable with a lot of makeup. I think I will always be most comfortable with just the basics.

Some people are just lucky and have nothing they need to hide with makeup, so they look great without any.

I rarely use makeup. When my husband and I first started dating, I would use some powder foundation and lippie, but since we got together, I've been very minimal (just lippie). Although in recent years, I've got into eyeshadows, mascara, lippies, blushes and mineral foundation...but most of the time, I'll just go for a simple look as I'm not a fan of the 'plastic' made-up look

I wear make up for work but when I am going out, out comes the red lipstick and the eye liner top and bottom, it makes me feel ready to party.

same with me. Actually at my previous work they demanded from me to wear "at least some makeup"! I was a bit shocked, but they said it is a health spa, we need to look "professional" very strange....

I couldn't agree with the last statement more - I love makeup as a form of self-expression, and while I do obviously love the transformative power of makeup, that's not the only reason why I wear it. I rock purple eyebrows for myself and nobody else ^__^

As long as makeup is nicely applied, I think makeup is wonderful

I am a natural make up girl because I am lazy. And because of this, when I do go all out on a bold lip or eye look, my boyfriend notices and gives me lovely compliments :)

My husband always says he prefers me without makeup. Probably because i am so slow in applying makeup

I don't wear too much, I mostly use foundation to hide redness for work but at home/weekends moisturiser is all I use. But then again I like to play with different looks some times.

I totally agree the natural look is much better. But when I wear makeup I generally don't do it to impress anyone else, apart from myself..

I opt for natural looking makeup everyday, but on special occasions I do like to be bolder!

Make up is about making me feel better not the man! If I want to wear full coverage I will, regardless of whether hubby prefers less or not haha. Of course this also depends on where your going and the time of day/night. There's no way id bother with full coverage going down to the markets.
