David Beckham refuses to cut his daughter’s hair

She’s the daughter of mega-star David Beckham, so we’ve always assumed Harper Beckham doesn’t miss out on much.
But the four-year-old is still yet to receive one thing – a haircut.
Apparently, her father point-blank refuses to let his little one cut her locks. In a recent interview with Yahoo, he came across as extremely protective of his daughter’s ‘do.
"About a year ago, my wife said, 'maybe we should cut Harper’s hair.' And I was like, 'No! We need to grow it. Do. Not. Touch,'" David said.
"Since she was born, we haven’t cut it. That’s why it’s pretty much down to her knees," he said.
In response, the interviewer joked: "You saved Harper's hair!" to which Beckham replied: "I had to. It's just so good, isn't it?"
I have to agree with David here – the toddler’s long, honey locks are pretty gorgeous.
Even so, considering he’s cut and styled his own hair in so many ways over the years, his approach to his daughter’s mane is quite surprising (but we kind of love him for it)!
Interestingly, celebs like the Beckhams aren’t the only ones skipping kiddie cuts.
Earlier this year, The New York Times reported more and more parents are letting their sons' hair grow long – some to the shoulders, others long enough to be pulled back into mini man buns!
Surprisingly, it’s often not about making a statement, but rather, based on big love for the child’s hair.
The debate about whether children should have haircuts makes me think of my own dad, who always tried to stop my sisters and I from getting our hair cut short.
Sorry for the current asymmetrical bob, Pete – I know it’s not your fave!
In any case, even if she’s in love with her long locks now, my guess is Harper will be begging her dad for a haircut sooner or later.
And why shouldn’t she? After all, it’ll definitely grow back!
In the meantime, David should invest in one of these de-tangling must-haves:
Left to right: Johnson's baby Kids No More Tangles Spray, Lip Smacker Chupa Chups Strawberry Hair Detangler Spray, Lady Jayne Smooth & Knotless Brush.
What’s your opinion on kids getting haircuts? Would you hold off cutting your child’s hair?

If I had girl, I would let it grow unless she wanted to have a haircut. If it wasn't manageable or kept getting tangled, then I would get it cut. My boys have short hair, I don't think I would want them to grow it long but I honestly don't think they would like it haha

I didn't cut my daughters hair either until after school it was too beautiful and long I couldn't bring myself to do it! I think at around 6is or so I snipped 1-2cm off only.

I'm all for giving the child a say in decisions over their own body. My daughter opted to cut her mid-waist length hair into a bob a few years ago and I fully respected her choice to express her personal sense of style in that way.

I remember having long hair when young, it was because I wanted it long. I was about 20 when I had it all chopped off into a short layered do. My hair seems to grow quickly. Each to their own.

My mum had my long hair cut when I was 8 in hopes that it would grow in thicker. My hair was never able to grow long again. It breaks because it is so fine/thin. I have kept my 4 girls hair long. None of them want it cut shorter.

A girl I went to school with never had a haircut until she was 15 or 16. Plaited, it went down past here knees. She lobbed it off and had a pixie cut for many years after.

When I was a baby, Mum cut/shaved my very curly hair off in the hope of it growing back thicker. It grew back straight and with a hint of a wave. Sometimes I wonder what my hair would look like if it was curly.

What's with the "Sorry for the current asymmetrical bob, Pete – I know it’s not your fave!" comment? That's just in there apropos of nothing!

My mum wouldnt let any of us cut our hair. The three of us had waist length hair and we had it plaited everyday for school. And my use to brush it alot. And I think all of us cut our hair after leaving home. But I have never had it any shorter than my shoulder length.

Well, I don't really have an opinion on it either way! If the child wants their hair cut, so be it!

My parents always gave me a short hair cut so I envy her dads decision to keep it long. She's a cutie.

She's very cute. As long as it doesn't get too long and uncomfortable for her.

Conversely, I had short hair the entire time I was a kid. My mom just found it easier!

What a lovely picture. But what if she wants to cut it? What if she decides to shave it off for charity? It’s only hair after all.
