Six of the best: hair curlers
I have naturally thick, curly hair. But despite that, I still use hair tools to create loose, effortless-looking curls. And it’s taken me years to find a good few that not only give me smooth, natural curls, but that will also actually create a curl that will stay, well, a curl all day long.
So if you’re on the hunt for an effective hair tool, then you’ll be pleased to know that we’ve taken the hard work out of it for you and gathered six of the best hair curlers. And here they are, in no particular order…
#1: VS Sassoon Big Hair Soft Curls Styler
If you’ve got long hair and are looking to achieve a loose, tousled hairstyle, then this is the styler for you. Wrap a small section of hair (maybe two centimetres wide) around the big barrel to achieve a large curl, or grab a bigger section to create a more relaxed wave. Oh and there’s no clamp on this one, so make sure your hands are protected while wrapping your hair around the barrel.
#2: muk Curl Stick
Whether you’re a girl who fancies neat ringlets or flowing waves, you’ll find that the muk tool will be just what the doctor ordered. You receive three different-sized titanium barrels, so you can chop and change what kind of curls you create, depending on the result you’re after.
#3: Babyliss Ceramic Conical Curling Iron, from $79.95, 1800 251 215
Available in two barrel sizes, this fabulously-coloured curling tool helps create beautiful bouncy curls without comprising the quality of your hair. It also features 25 different heat settings, so you can be sure your hair is in good hands no matter what type and texture it is.
#4: Remington Perfect Curls
The unique design of this curler is a clumsy girl’s (I’m talking about myself) dream. Just clamp a section of your hair at the bottom of the tool, then rotate your hair around the barrel until it all falls into the plastic grooves. No winding your hair with your fingers, no hands near hot metal. Genius, right? And even better, it leaves your hair with brilliant curls.
#5: Fastlane Dakota Fast Waver Hair Styler, $69.95, 1800 251 215
It may look a little interesting, but the deep wave design of this styler helps create smooth, fuzz-free waves in no time at all. Take a small section of your hair, clamp down a portion of it and hold for a few seconds. Move down the section of your hair until it’s all done. Keep going until all your hair is curled. If you’re after a more tousled, beachy look, run your fingers through the waves once your hair has cooled down.
#6: TIGI Straightening Iron
Okay, so technically this isn’t a hair curler, but you can create beautiful, soft curls with a hair straightener, too (just watch the easy-peasy how-to here). The TIGI straightener features negative ion technology, meaning your hair will be static and frizz-free, and the swivel cord will make it a whole lot easier to navigate the straightener to curl your hair.
