8 pretty pink ways to support the NBCF

The odds are someone you know has been affected by breast cancer. Why? Well it’s the most commonly diagnosed cancer among Australian women, with one in eight developing it in their lifetime. Scary, isn’t it?
Luckily we have the National Breast Cancer Foundation. It raises much-needed funds to assist with research and development in the search for a cure for breast cancer. Since its establishment in 1994, NBCF has funded over $16.2 million in secondary breast cancer research across 27 projects.
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month, and this year an overwhelming number of beauty brands are getting involved in the fight. Here are just a few that you can pick up to do your part.
Bobbi Brown French Pink Set, $85
Embossed with a pink ribbon, this stunning compact blush and matching pink brush is a pretty way to get behind this amazing cause. A whopping 20 per cent of every limited edition set sold is donated straight to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
ROCK & RUDDLE Pink Brush, from $39.95
A hair brush with a conscience! Pick up either a small or large Rock & Ruddle brush and 10 per cent of the profits go straight to NBCF. Available exclusively at David Jones.
Cedel Dry Shampoo
Cedel are no stranger to this fundraising initiative, having donated over $120,000 to breast cancer research in the past. Beauty buffs will be pleased to hear Cedel Dry Shampoo now comes in a dark colour, as well as a Dry Conditioner and a Heat Protector that helps to cut down on blow-drying time.
Dove Pink Products
As a platinum partner of the National Breast Cancer Foundation for the last six years, Dove is definitely the brand that comes to mind when we think pink. They even made a pink version of the beloved Best in Beauty-winning Beauty Cream Bar! Dove has donated over $1 million to the National Breast Cancer Foundation since 2006.
Clinque Pink with a Purpose, $36
Clinique have gone the extra mile this year, creating a limited edition pink shade of their much-loved Almost Lipstick, aptly named ‘Pink Ribbon Honey’. The sheer lippie creates a custom shade for your lips and comes with its own pink mini cosmetic pouch. $5 from each sale benefits the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
ghd V Coral Styler Gift Set, $219
A huge $20 from the sale of each of these striking two-tone stylers goes straight to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. So buying one will do wonders for both your tresses and your conscience.
Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex, from $95
Your favourite Best in Beauty-winning anti-ageing product just got even cooler, with the addition of its own pink ribbon bracelet. The beautiful charm features the 2013 pink ribbon as well as a splash of blue to also represent the men affected by breast cancer. $20 from each sale is donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Sea Siren Sail Away Heather, $10.95
Looking for the perfect pink nail hue? This one from Sea Siren Cosmetics is not only gorgeous, but it also helps fund the research needed to find a cure for breast cancer. That’s right, when you pay just $10.95 online for one of these polishes, 10 per cent goes straight to charities promoting breast cancer awareness.

Might have to investigate the Clinique set. I've never been able to fall in love with their products in the past, but that bag is too cute, and the price is right too.

These products don't appeal to me so I would rather donate directly to the foundation.

It's such a common disease. I hope that there is a cure very soon. Great to see these products supporting this important cause. I like the look of the ghd straightener but I don't need a new one at the moment. I love dove products so might purchase the body lotion.

Mum died of breast cancer, but I have mixed feelings about the "pinkifying" of the disease. There are so many other diseases that nobody talks about that need much-needed funding for research. I found a really well-written article on this subject: http://www.mamamia.com.au/wellbeing/pink-washing/

I'll definitely be contributing to this charity this year. My girlfriend just had a mastectomy last week. She's 39 with two little ones, so it's close to home. Just too young.

It's wonderful to see so many companies getting behind the Breast Cancer campaign. As a woman I will show my appreciation by backing these companies as much as I can. Dove in particular has put in a mammoth effort in finding a cure for this dreadful disease.
