Korean makeup & skincare - my experiences and please share yours!
The list below is my personal experience with Korean brand makeup and beauty products. I've been converted for about 3 years when I picked some up overseas while in Asia and hooked ever since!
Please share your experiences and brands - I've only touched on a few! Some general notes I'll start with:
Skincare – oil cleansers, solid oil balms, essences, ampoules, serums, confused? Read this helpful board on Reddit, it explains all the steps for Asian skincare and also some ingredients to look out for https://www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/2jcss2/asian_skincare_101_a_beginners_guide_faq/
Looking for trusted online sellers? check out this list on Reddit of trusted sellers people are purchasing through. https://www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/290to0/giant_list_of_websites_ebayers_etc/
also thanks to Preciousia this site also analyzes products and gives you a breakdown of ingredients: http://www.cosdna.com/
Asian Beauty Reddit is another board I stalk on a regular basis, it's pretty helpful https://www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/
edit to add I just tidied up the first post as I was getting tired scrolling past that long one lol

Regular buyer for a long time.
Im stuck buying this product literally. I used it when my children were babies and now there a bit older and understand they no bath, cream, then bed. No cream = no bed for 3 very angry toddlers.
Smooth cream that doesn’t feel too heavy
This moisturiser has a lovely smooth texture and glides onto my skin beautifully. I found it left my skin feeling soft and supple and it also wears well under makeup.
Goodness in a Jar
After more than a week of using Pro X by Olay Anti Aging Wrinkle Smoothing Cream I can really say that the I ❤️ the product;

New Papa Recipe sheet masks (green is not so new anymore).
And one of the new Shangpree eye masks. I can't source the other one released yet.
Close up of the eye masks in the tub.
First, this is NOT spam.
I would just like to alert you all to another e-Commerce option from which to shop K-Beauty, J-Beauty, etc. that I can vouch for having shopped there myself with no hassles > Stylevana (https://www.stylevana.com/en_AU).
No obligations but if you use this code (http://rwrd.io/412g0sn), you can get 20% off your first order (and I get 15% off my next order). There are some good deals going on right now. For example:
Shangpree - Marine & Aroma Blend Mask Kit - 1pack (3 items): https://www.stylevana.com/en_AU/value-sets/shangpree-marine-aroma-blend-mask-kit-1pack-3-items.html
Krave Beauty (discounted): https://www.stylevana.com/en_AU/brands/krave.html
Sulwhasoo - Essential Balancing Daily Routine Set - 6items: https://www.stylevana.com/en_AU/value-sets/sulwhasoo-essential-balancing-daily-routine-set-6items.html
Kao Great Skin Set - Royal blue (x3): https://www.stylevana.com/en_AU/value-sets/kao-great-skin-set-royal-blue.html
Nope, don't consider it spam.
All mediheal sheet masks are half price at Olive Young (a large Korean pharmacy)'s global site. They also stock many other skincare brands like COSRX, Real Barrier, AHC, goodal, Manyo etc
https://global.oliveyoung.com/project/singles-day/1679/
Free DHL shipping with US$60 order.
I'm not sure those prices are actually competitive compared to other e-commerce sites we mostly shop from. You must have purchased half the site or more because their range is scant.
Also, they still sell Purito sunscreen... at a time when other e-commerce sites have pulled these from their shelves.

I'm a huge fan and have been using the Sulwhasoo moisturiser, eye cream and activating serum and have been using these products for over a year now. It ends up being cheaper to buy the sample sizes rather than full size as well (this saves hundreds of dollars for just one product sometimes although it isn't the best environmental option). Have used the Pyunkang Yul, Essence Toner daily for over 2 years now.
I was using and buying Korean products so much so I ended up using my ABN and buying directly from wholesalers in South Korea the products end up costing usually half the price or sometimes even quarter of the price, I would wait until I needed to do a big order and some of the wholesalers only had minimums of $200 spend to make an order too which was easy to fill with products for my bf and I. Now I do it more often as I order for friends too so they can get cheaper products. It makes me miss travelling though as I know I can get it even cheaper in store in SK
Wow that's impressive that you are buying directly from the SK wholesalers! Do they have a website and do you have to be able to read Korean?
I've used a few now, I used to use google chrome then just use the translate button in the past and I did get my friend to send emails for me but now majority of these wholesaler websites have chinese, english, arabic etc translation versions of their sites. The ones in English are slightly more expensive by a few cents or a dollar or so but still far cheaper then buying from a online or physical store. The one I've been using lately as english customer service is best is UMMA.io.
I think all you need is a business name for this site too, you can say you run an ebay store and wait and see if they accept you for making an account.
Thanks for the tips, miss_tamriel!
It looks like Umma.io is closing down though:
> UMMA Service > Termination Announcement > February 15. 2021
>Based on the internal circumstances of B2LiNK, the service providing entity of UMMA, UMMA service will be terminated on February 15, 2021 Please refer to the service termination policy below.
Oh nooo, I haven't ordered in months. I'll have to find another one!
Another site is https://www.asianbeautywholesale.com/home.html which is run by yesstyle, all in english but these prices aren't as cheap as Umma (but cheaper than YesStyle at least)
Nice! Definitely an advantage of having and using an ABN. I also buy Sulwhasoo in mini sizes in bulk and lasts me 1-2 years. Also great for taking with me when I travel (on road trips since I can't travel overseas and interstate travel is tricky right now).
I like Korean cosmetics, but I buy them with caution. I like Korean masks, I already have several brands written out for me and I always look for them. I also like their foundation, I can't remember the exact brand. It's a bad thing, they are very expensive in our stores.
