5 tedious beauty tasks get a luxurious twist

Think your beauty routine is mundane? These simple yet lavish tricks will see your daily primping habits go from dull and dreary to ridiculously luxurious. And all it takes is a few top-notch indulgent products…
TEDIOUS TASK #1: brushing your teeth
It may only take two minutes twice a day to get your teeth sparkling clean, but you’re definitely not alone in thinking those 120 seconds tend to drag, and drag, and then drag a little more.
Make it luxe by… giving your teeth the bee’s knees in brushing excellence. Think a power toothbrush that looks as good as it performs; that treats your gums with the utmost care, but matches your stylish bathroom perfectly, too. Try: Philips Sonicare DiamondClean.
TEDIOUS TASK #2: cleansing your body
Washing the body is somewhat of a mindless activity. Yes, it’s a must-do to ensure the noses around us stay happy, but it’s still most certainly a bore.
Make it luxe by… embracing nourishing body washes, skin-smoothing scrubs and deliciously scented bubble baths. Do so and these products will reward you with soft, touchable, fresh-smelling skin that’ll make all your hard work seem easy and give your shower time a spa-like feel. Try: milk & co by Michael Klim Body Wash ($17.95 | 03 9804 8550) and philosophy raspberry sorbet shampoo, shower gel & bubble bath.
TEDIOUS TASK #3: washing your locks
Rinse. Lather. Repeat. We all know the drill by now and we could do it with our eyes closed. And if we’re honest, we could probably even do it in our sleep.
Make it luxe by… indulging your senses and your hair with divine, quality shampoos and conditioners that boast scents so delicious you’re tempted to snack on them. Try: Molton Brown Indian Mulberry Volumising Shampoo and Conditioner ($40 each), and KMS California COLORVITALITY Shampoo and Conditioner.
TEDIOUS TASK #4: maintaining a solid skin care routine
If men wore make-up, we’re certain they’d sleep in it six nights out of seven. Why? Cleansing the face is laborious, and if we can get out of it, we women probably will. Naughty? Yes, but sometimes it’s just too much effort...
Make it luxe by… befriending a cleansing tool that’ll do the hard work for you; one that’ll clean so deep down into your pores you’ll become addicted to the healthy glow that results. Top tip: follow up with an anti-ageing wonder cream to help prolong that radiant effect. Try: Clarisonic Mia ($149), La Prairie Advance Marine Biology Revitalising Emulsion Eyes.Face.Neck and Pevonia Spa Care for Him Age-Defying Caviar Balm ($150).
TEDIOUS TASK #5: styling your strands
Males generally get off easy when it comes hair, but for the ladies, blow-drying and manipulating your mane on a daily basis can literally be a pain in the arm.
Make it luxe by… employing hi-tech tools with ionic technology and ceramic plates, and products with hard-working ingredients. Not only will this speed up the process, but you’ll be left with shiny, healthy, frizz-free locks. Try: ghd air, Cloud Nine Iron ($270) and O&M Frizzy Logic Shine Serum ($31.95).

I adore my electric toothbrush though I avoid using heat on my hair... if only I could tame my locks :(

The Philips sonicare toothbrushes are amazing. I was a dental nurse, and we trialled them before recommending them to our patients - never ever had such incredible results. The sonic vibrations are similar to the ultrasonic tool dentists use to remove plaque. They are wonderful. Highly highly recommended.

I enjoy my routines but when it comes to the most tedious it has to be epillating. It takes a while to do but the results last so long it doesn't have to be done too often.

I never thought those things were boring! What bores me is hair removal (shaving and waxing) because it hardly lasts and isn't relaxing.

I find styling my hair tedious, so tend to opt for a more low key style.

Hair styling is the worst for me - I have straight waist length hair and occasionally I'll run a straightener through it to make it really sleek and shiny, but I rarely blow dry and I have never successfully managed to curl my hair!

The thing I find most tedious is flossing my teeth as I find it so difficult to get between my teeth. I'm thinking about buying Philip's Sonicare AirFloss, but I've read mixed reviews about its effectiveness.

I've tried Philosophy Raspberry Sorbet Shampoo, Shower Gel and Bubble Bath. They also make one in Cinnamon Buns, it smells heavenly! I'm really anal about brushing my teeth - I take six minutes! Molton Brown makes wonderful bath products, and I just love Dermalogica Hydrating Body Wash and Hydrating Body Cream with aromatic essential oils! I'd love to try the new Alpha-H Cleansing Cube with glycolic acid, coconut oil and crushed cranberries.

Styling my hair is definitely tedious & too time consuming for me. No wonder I don't bother blow-drying my hair when I wash it (despite having a good hair dryer) & just put it in rope plaits to dry - the plus side of that is I get nice waves in my hair when I unravel them + my natural wave is enhanced.
