Bondi Sands sunscreen – what we really think

Summer is on our doorstep and it’s time to start stocking up on the essentials – and what’s more important in hot weather than a reliable sunscreen? Luckily we’re here to share our Bondi Sands Suncare range review to help you find the best sunscreen this summer.
You’re probably already familiar with Bondi Sands thanks to their ever-popular tanning products. Now the brand has expanded into a suncare range and (spoiler alert!) it’s just as good as you’d expect it to be. There are five sunscreens available in both oil or lotion formulations with a variety of SPF strengths – so it’s really easy to find the one that’s right for you.
Each of the five sunscreens in the range is lightweight, fast drying and doesn’t leave that sand-attracting greasy residue behind. The formula is also enriched with coconut oil so you can protect your skin and give it some much-needed hydration at the same time.
When the new range landed on our desks, we couldn’t wait to give it a go. Read on for our honest Bondi Sands review…
bh’s Kate tried… Bondi Sands Sunscreen Lotion SPF50+
“Full disclosure – I am a huge Bondi Sands fan. I’ve been using their tanning foams and gradual tanners for years, so I was very excited when they announced the launch of their suncare range. Given that I’m also a sunscreen fanatic and live near the beach, I couldn’t wait to slip, slop, slap! I snatched up the Bondi Sands Sunscreen Lotion SPF50+ because I’m naturally very fair and need a high amount of protection.
“The first thing I noticed about the product was the smell. It has a lovely, creamy coconut scent which is perfect for summer. It also means that I don’t need to worry about wearing a fragrance to the beach (yes, I normally wear one!) because my skin smells so delicious after applying this lotion.
“The second thing that caught my attention was the consistency of the product. It’s a lotion, which I have long associated with being thick and a little difficult to spread over the body. But not this bad boy – this lotion was lovely, lightweight and easily spreadable over my sun-sensitive limbs.
“Another thing I loved about this sunscreen is the long-lasting SPF50+ protection. It’s water resistant for up to four hours so I can enjoy my time at the beach without having to constantly reapply my sunscreen. This one is definitely a winner and I will be using it all summer!”
bh’s Rosie tried… Bondi Sands Sunscreen Oil SPF30
“I have fallen head-over-heels for this sunscreen for two reasons. One, because it's super fast-drying and leaves my skin with a shimmering sheen; and two, because it’s incredibly lightweight and feels like I'm not wearing a heavy oil – or a sunscreen, for that matter!
“The first time I tried this sunscreen was for a long walk outdoors, and I was super impressed that it didn't seem to sweat off or make my skin feel greasy when I worked up a bit of a sweat. I've also worn it to a mid-arvo barbecue in the sun, and it did an excellent job of keeping my skin shielded from the harmful rays of the sun, while making my skin look really hydrated.
“I'd definitely recommend this sunscreen to anyone who wants a lightweight, fast-drying, high-SPF sunscreen that leaves their skin feeling and looking incredible, no matter what the occasion.”
bh’s Eloise tried… Bondi Sands Protect & Tan SPF15 Tanning Oil
“I rarely have a tan. Not because I don’t like being tan – I love it. I’m just incredibly pale, constantly lathered in SPF50 sunscreen and not a very skilled fake tanner. So for me, being able to use a gradual tanning product (that I can’t mess up) with SPF15 is a dream. The Bondi Sands Protect & Tan SPF15 Tanning Oil contains active tanning ingredients – so I can actually develop a nice, natural colour while also protecting my skin from the sun’s harsh rays!
“The first time I used this product I was away at a lakeside resort. It was one of those rare occasions I actually would have tanned for, but I had run out of time to do it beforehand. I sprayed on the Bondi Sands Protect & Tan SPF15 Tanning Oil on my first morning. It smelled SO good. I found the scent to be a little different to the distinct Bondi Sands one I’m used to – this one smelt like a delicious tropical holiday! I was impressed by how quickly it absorbed into my skin. After rubbing the oil in, it only took seconds before I felt ready to go. I spent the whole weekend outside in the spring sunshine.
“Now that the weather is heating up, I think this product is going to be my new summer staple. I walk my dog most afternoons, so I plan on dousing myself with this oil for the next three months straight.”
As well as the suncare products we reviewed, the Bondi Sands suncare range also includes the Bondi Sands Sunscreen Lotion SPF30 and the Bondi Sands Sunscreen Oil SPF15. The full range is available at Priceline and www.bondisands.com.au. The Protect & Tan SPF15 Tanning Oil is also available at Coles.

These sound good, but................I have a lot of problems with allergies to sunscreens, so I will stick with my old faithful Clinique sunblocks.

I've always heard good things about Bondi Sands but I haven't tried the brand. I like physical sunscreens.
Are these physical or chemical sunscreens?
