Chrissy Teigen says she won't ever use Photoshop again
Chrissy Teigen’s already impressed us with her real girl selfie, and now she’s going one better, vowing never to digitally alter a single snap again.
Blown away by the social media impact of showing her real body (minus the flattering lighting and hair and make-up help she gets on photoshoots), the model has decided enough’s enough.
"I have those apps, the Facetune and Photoshopping ones, and I just didn't feel like doing it anymore," she said to Meredith Veira.
Saying the amount of editing going on is out of control, she stressed how it’s led to confusion about what celebrities actually look like: "It's gotten to the point where they're not smoothing their skin anymore, they are actually changing the shape of their body and everything else,” she said.
“Nobody can compare to that when you're fixing yourself so much… I've seen these women in person; they are not like that. Please know that. "
Now, some might dismiss Chrissy’s promise as being a bit self-indulgent – but when you consider the model has over two million adoring Instagram followers, the move may have a bigger impact than you think.
After all, even though many of us claim not to be affected by celeb selfies, there’s something reassuring about seeing how gorgeous models have the same beautiful body ‘flaws’ as us.
And with the recent disturbing social media trend of fans hurting themselves to get Kylie Jenner-sized lips, it’s clear celebs have a growing responsibility to set more realistic beauty standards!
Have you ever used Photoshop to edit a selfie? What do you think of Chrissy’s decision to stop editing her snaps?
