My Invisalign Journey: Getting started
I’m excited to finally share that I’m getting Invisalign treatment! I’ve wanted to straighten my teeth for years, but a number of factors held me back. I’ve decided now to take this journey, and we’re going to document the process, so you can see what’s involved and how it works.
Being a beauty editor is a pretty great job. I get to attend loads of amazing events, and my day-to-day consists of the latest and greatest beauty products. I love my job, but there are certainly challenging aspects to it, particularly being in front of the camera on a regular basis. While shooting videos is fun, it also brings out my biggest insecurity — my teeth.
I know my teeth aren’t disastrously crooked, but they’re not as straight as I’d like them to be and I’ve always felt self conscious about smiling. I’ve wanted to get them straightened since I was a teenager, but was put off by the cost and didn’t want to wear braces that were visible. That’s why I’ve chosen Invisalign treatment — it's virtually invisible, which means it won't disrupt my work on camera or my lifestyle. I also found that many practices offer payment plans for Invisalign treatment, which means you don’t have to pay for the full cost of treatment upfront.
The first step in my Invisalign treatment was calling the Invisalign Smile Concierge. It was great to talk to someone who could explain the process to me, and they even managed to book me in for a free assessment! At my appointment, the Doctor used an iTero scanner, which produced 3D digital images of my teeth and a simulated outcome of what my new smile would look like at the end of treatment. I couldn’t believe how great my teeth could look — I was so excited!
One of the reasons I chose Invisalign treatment is because it offers the most advanced technology for teeth alignment, so I can feel confident in the results. The Doctor created a personalised Invisalign treatment plan, which anticipates the exact movements of my teeth and the duration of my treatment.
Now all I have to do is wait for my Invisalign clear aligners to arrive! I can’t wait to share my Invisalign journey and the progress towards my new smile. Watch my first video above to see how it all began.
Invisalign® treatment is a series of clear plastic removable orthodontic aligners that gently move patients’ teeth. An orthodontist or Invisalign trained dentist will be able to advise whether Invisalign treatment is right for you. You should always read and follow their directions for use. In rare cases, allergies may occur.

Kate, you're very brave to get such intensive dental work done. I have a strong gag reflex, and I doubt that I could tolerate this procedure.

I am only catching up on this now and so wish it had been around for me when younger. I didn't need braces but had to wear a plate which is quite similar to what you are doing Kate but much better.
I thought your teeth looked fine but I guess only you know what you are dealing with as I did with mine years ago. It makes you feel better if your teeth are straighter that's for sure. I look forward to following your journey.

I'm currently on my 6th set of retainers out of 20 , and I am happy with my progress so far ! However I never got to see digital images of what my future smile could look like. Pretty disappointing considering I've paid $9800 for my treatment :(

I think invisalign is a great option for those who don't want to wear braces - especially if you're older as braces are often viewed as something only teenagers have.

Your teeth looked fine to me Kate - but when I watch the video, I can see your concerns and good for you and sharing your journey.
I hope the additional cost is mentioned in an upcoming article - my daughter looked into invisalign when getting her braces (she was 15 so we were paying) and didn't think it worth the additional cost. But she was at school at least 1 in 3 kids had braces at some stage. Back in my day it was more like 1 in 20!

I went full metal and then Invisalign top row as a retainer. Just watch out for the bad breath action!

I had braces and it was the single most painful thing I've ever done.

We had to get braces for my teenage son a couple of years ago. Wish I knew about this treatment before.
