How-to: hide teeth imperfections

It's always hard to give your best smile when you’re concerned about crooked teeth – especially when you’re posing for a photo next to your friend who’s sporting perfectly straight teeth and a seemingly million-dollar smile.
According to Specialist Orthodontist, Dr. Gareth Ho, everyone has a beautiful smile, but they don’t always have the confidence to show it.
Here are his simple tips on how to hide teeth imperfections so you can put on a great smile, no dental treatment required!
1.) Change the position of your head to help hide any imbalances or imperfections. Try tilting your head at various angles in front of the bathroom mirror until you find the angle that you think looks the best. Practice this angle so that you know exactly what to do when the camera comes out.
2.) Showing your upper front teeth, not the bottom, gives others the impression of confidence, so fake it until you feel it!
3.) We can only smile with our eyes for 5 seconds or less, so wait until everything is prepared and ready before striking your ‘pose’. This will help you to look naturally happy and relaxed, and your smile will look better for it.

Some helpful tips above but not always easy to do. I like Oonga's comment above - and in my opinion, when one truly smiles, you smile with your eyes, they sparkle, even if your teeth don't.

My dad has a theory that if all youngsters had their teeth pulled, the adult ones would grow in perfectly. I kind of think it has some merit to it!

i knew to fake the confidence until you feel it but my photos always looked so staged. That last tip is going to be my new number one thought when taking photos.

Years of braces and headgear mean lots of fillings and cavities from areas covered by metal for years. They look great and straight but I need more fillings than I care to think about. But i would do it all again.

great tip especially with the smiling with our eyes.. I do sometimes realize that my smile turns out good in some and when using a slow camera it does end up looking fake

That eyes smiling fact is interesting. I always get ready way too early so kind of look forced. Must give it a try :)

Best advice ever!! I really like the hold off posing til the last second too because it's true that your eyes can only smile for so long. Love it! <3

You can tilt your head so your smile (and teeth) looks better but it might highlight another flaw like your nose!

Luckily, I have quite nice teeth, so I'm pretty confident with photo taking, it's just that I find it a bit hard to pose in general...

I have a huge complex about my smile. I have wanted braces for a while but it is kind of awkward now that I am a lot older. I wish there was a less obvious but strong way of fixing extremely crooked teeth.

Never had a filling! I had teeth out for orthodontic purposes and I was only lucky to sprout just two wisdom teeth which I still have. I was fortunate that my parents have spent the money on my teeth and when I feel uncomfortable or down in confidence I just remember at least I have my teeth. Ladies I find the right foundation makes my teeth glow a few shades whiter :)

I think when we are genuinely smiling, we truly smile with our eyes, and people tend to be more drawn to focus on the eyes than the teeth :)
