The perils of not owning a bath

Don’t get me wrong, I love showers. But there are some things that only a bath can do. And trust me, you don't realise just how good that deep ceramic tub is until you have to live without one. It’s been a good eight months since my last bath, and these are just some of the things that have been tearing me up inside...
TROUBLE #1 - No hangover soaks
Sundays are definitely the day I miss baths the most. All I want to do is wash away Saturday night’s efforts without having to stand - is that so much to ask? And before you even think of suggesting it, I’ve already tried to fit a chair in my shower. It didn’t work.

TROUBLE #2 - No ‘easy access’ shaving
Shaving every centimetre of each leg is already hard enough, but when I owned a bath, at least I had a clearer view. Whether I did it during a soak sesh or simply popped my leg up on the side for a speedy job, the bath was my shaving bestie. Now, when shaving in the shower, I have to make sure the rest of my body is still in the water (so I don’t freeze) AND keep my balance as I try to reach my ankles. #firstworldproblems.
If you're in the same boat (or shower) as me, I find the Schick Intuition Pure Nourishment razor perfect for shower shaving. Not only does it have a pivoting head to reach those stray hairs around the knees and ankles, it has wire wrapped blades which help to protect your skin from nicks and cuts. Plus it has a solid soapy bar surrounding the razor, to lather and moisturise with every stroke. Showers just got a whole lot easier...
TROUBLE #3 - No two-day hairstyles
Even if I manage to keep my hair away from the water in the shower, the steam that accumulates within the glassed-off area is enough to turn my perfectly curled ‘do into a frizzy mess. Back when I had a bath, I could turn the taps on, leave the room while the steam settled (a much quicker process in an open space), and then soak without a worry in the world.

TROUBLE #4 - No fun bath products
But most of all, I never get to use any new and amazing bath products. It’s devastating. I used to love lighting a candle and popping in the latest bath salts, bath bombs, bubble bath or a mixture of all! So if you’re lucky enough to own a bath, do me a favour and try these goodies out? I’d love to know what they’re like!
- Thalgo Polynesia - Lagoon Water Bath Pebble
- Estée Lauder Youth-Dew Bath Oil
- Lush Granny Takes a Dip Bath Bomb
- philosophy field of flowers peony blossom shampoo, shower gel & bubble bath
- Pure Essense Hand-Made Soaps

We have a bath but to be honest I shower 99% of the time rather than bathe.

I miss having a bath tub. So much. My parents still have one at their place, so sometimes I go there for a soak..... And to visit them.

I do enjoy the occasional soak in the bathtub, but for me it's about having a luxurious relaxation time. So I go all out - candles, bath oils a glass of wine or a cup of tea, music. The works.

I could not live without my bath! It has been a saviour this winter when I need to get warm. I have been using epsom salts, essentials oils and almond oil to nourish and soothe my skin. My skin has been so dry this winter. It has made a huge difference. Having a bath once a week is my special treat! It is so easy to neglect your skin during winter months as you are always covered up and want to get dressed quickly because it is so cold. this way there is no excuse and you give yourself the head to toe treatment and feel so good after a relaxing soak, scrub and have massaged body oil on all over. So therapeutic!

I don't relate to any of these although I found the first one funny. The only thing I miss about a bath is the relaxation of soaking in a tub for hours on end falling asleep & it did great for my muscles/ body all over can't complain about that. These days I love my shower's.

My whole family absolutely hates taking baths. Wish I'd like it more, as bath salts and bath bombs sound pretty nice.

I love my current home, yet its a pity to not have a bath. To solve that problem, I enjoy an odd bath at the family home every now and again; and bath houses are also great - like at Nature's Energy in Sydney. Otherwise when I travel interstate for business or leisure, I do my best to stay at hotels where baths are available in their rooms. Nice.

I've just moved to a new house, which has a giant bath (I'm 5'10 and I have to lie down in the bath to reach the end). The only problem is that I don't have any bath product yet but the generic shower gel for making bubbles. I'm going to go crazy at the lush boxing day sale

I don't necessarily need an oversized spa bath, like we have at the moment but I sure would miss a normal, decent sized bathtub.
The bathtub in our 'family' bath room is just too small for a decent heavenly soak, it's more like an oversized sitzbath but perfect size for smaller children.
A home WITHOUT a bathtub? No, definitely NOT FOR ME! Especially in the colder winter months I love to just have a warming soak and forget the outside world.
